KON FU REVIEW
Mello Seven is back with another record, this time joined by Grandmark recording artist, Drizilik. Kon Fu, produced by Alman, is a song about the whirlwind of an immediate and intense mutual attraction, which will surely resonate with a lot of the situationships that are more common nowadays.
The chorus is the kind that gets stuck in your head almost instantaneously and not unlike a lot of tracks from artists like Kiss Daniel, Kwame, Adekunle Gold to name but a few. Mello's vocals also make the song a breeze to listen to. No too effect-heavy, not too raw, it’s the ideal blend. Drizilik does his thing as always and brings it home with the verse. His flow gives the song a bit more diversity and keeps the listener engaged. If there was anything wrong with the track, it could maybe be the duration. Clocking in at just a little over 4 minutes, it does feel like it overstays its welcome after a few repeat listens. Also the transition from Drizilik's verse to the chorus comes across as an afterthought, lacking any subtlety. Overall, this record is a tune.
If Mello Seven continues to produce hits such as Kon Fu (previous songs include Body Na Quality, Falling 4 U) I predict that this year will be his breakthrough year, with this very song.
